The AKT exam does inevitably mean quite a bit of book work. It's best taken in the ST1 or 2 year, and needs about 2-3 months of preparation time.
With the CSA, however, the best way to prepare is to keep practising seeing real patients as practice will make things seem a lot clearer than they do at first.
