In the News is our ST3 / Trainer group and is an integral part of GP Training at Guildford. It takes place at the Education Centre from 2-3pm most weeks when the VTS is running between September and Christmas. The exceptions are when there is a Trainers' Meeting (usually the 3rd Thursday of the month), the GP Local Faculty Group meeting, or a GP Educational Half Day (when the VTS group joins in the half-day).

The aims of the group are:
To cover the sort of topics that are in the 'greyer' areas of medicine, where there is no simple answer that could be easily covered in a lecture format.
To cover topical issues facing General Practice
To give ST3s a chance to develop their skills at facilitating a topic and teaching in a small group.
To learn from how other practices tackle different challenges in general practice.
To benefit from the experience of other Trainers in the patch.
